HIV/AIDS AWARENESS WEEK 2023

SCARVES
ACROSS
SIMCOE &
MUSKOKA

In support of The Steven Lewis Foundation

The Red Scarf Campaign is an HIV/AIDS awareness campaign involving tying handmade red scarves throughout our communities. This art installation represents the red ribbon, which is the international symbol for HIV/AIDS awareness. It also shares the warmth by providing free scarves to community members who need them.  The Gilbert Centre is partnering with groups across Simcoe County and Muskoka to decorate our region with hundreds of red scarves. Here’s where you can get involved to either help tie the scarfs or collect one to wear:

  • Friday, Nov 24 @ 12:00 in Gravenhurst, starting at the Opera House – 295 Muskoka Rd S, Gravenhurst
  • Friday, Nov 24 @ 2:00 in Huntsville, starting at the Town Hall – 37 Main St E, Huntsville
  • Monday, Nov 27 @ 11:30 in Innisfil, starting at the public Library – 967 Innisfil Beach Rd, Innisfil
  • Tuesday, Nov 28 @ 10:30 in Orillia, starting at the Library – 36 Mississauga St W, Orillia
  • Thursday, Nov 30 @ 3:30 in Bracebridge, starting at the four corners – 1 Ecclestone Dr, Bracebridge
  • Friday, Dec 1 @ 1:00 in Barrie, starting at Barrie City Hall with the Mayor’s proclamation – 70 Collier St, Barrie, ON. There will then be a community lunch gathering at the Gilbert Centre, with a candle lighting to remember those before us and those who are advocates, with opportunity for speeches.
